T. Elon Dancy

Dr. T. Elon Dancy's research agenda investigates the experiences and sociocognitive outcomes of college students, particularly related to the intersection(s) of race, gender, and/or culture. More specifically, Dr. Dancy's scholarship informs the extant literature and practices incident to African American males in both colleges and other educational settings. His publications have considered African American male identity constructions, access issues for college students from underrepresented groups, and the environmental contexts for fostering college student success. He was named 2006 Emerging Scholar by the Association for the Study of Higher Education's Council on Ethnic Participation, 2007 LSU College of Education Dissertation of the Year Award recipient, and the 2008 AERA-J Dissertation Citation for Excellence honoree. He is also editor (with Roland Mitchell, Louisiana State University) of the College Student Affairs Journal. Dr. Dancy's research is currently supported by the National Science Foundation.
