Anthony H. Normore

 

Dr. Normore (Tony) is professor, Director of Doctoral Programs, and Department Chair of Educational Leadership at California Lutheran University in southern California.  Recently, he was appointed as a member of the instructional team for the 2013 Summer Principal’s Academy at Teachers College-Columbia University where he will teach Leadership, Law and Ethics.  His extensive national and international work with educational leaders has taken him throughout North America, Asia, UK, Europe, and South Pacific. Dr. Normore also provides leadership development and values-based instruction for jail inmates at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He is trained in university campus threat assessment with the FBI Los Angeles Field Office, and an active member of the Leadership and Ethics Institute at Police Academy/Criminal Justice Training Center at Golden West College, California. He is the editor of Global perspectives on educational leadership reform: The development and preparation of leaders of learning and learners of leadership (2010, Emerald) and Leadership for social justice: Promoting equity and excellence through inquiry and reflective practice (2008, IAP). He is co-editor of several volumes including Leadership in education, corrections, and law enforcement: A commitment to ethics, equity, and excellence (with B. Fitch, 2011, Emerald) & Educational leadership preparation: Innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to the Ed.D and graduate education (with G. Jean-Marie, 2010, Palgrave MacMillan), & forthcoming volumes including Foundations of  educational leadership: The key to developing excellent and equitable schools (2014, with J. Brooks, Routledge/Taylor & Francis) &  What the social sciences tell educational leaders about leadership for social justice and ethics (with J. Brooks, 2013, IAP); & Collective efficacy: Interdisciplinary perspectives of international leadership (with N. Erbe, 2013, Emerald). Dr. Normore’s work has appeared in numerous peer-reviewed research journals. He is Associate Editor of the Journal of School Leadership, Asian Pacific Education Review, and Series Editor for Advances in Educational Administration book series..
