Jeffrey S. Brooks

 

Dr. Brooks is a Professor of Educational Leadership Chair if the Department of Leadership & Counseling in the College of Education at the University of Idaho. His research focuses on socio-cultural and equity dynamics of educational leadership practice and preparation, and his most recent work examines how globalization and racism influence leadership in schools. Dr. Brooks has conducted case study and ethnographic research in the United States and in the Philippines, where he studied leadership for social justice as a J. William Fulbright Scholar. He is author of The Dark Side of School Reform: Teaching in the Space between Reality and Utopia and co-editor of the forthcoming edited volumes Instructional Leadership for Social Justice: What Every Principal Needs to Know in Order to Lead Equitable and Excellent Schools (with George Theoharis) and Educational Leadership and Racism: Preparation, Pedagogy and Practice (with Noelle Witherspoon Arnold). Dr. Brooks’ work has appeared in many peer-reviewed educational research journals. He is Editor of the Journal of School Leadership and Series Editor of the Educational Leadership for Social Justice book series.
